Paul Olsen
I’m pretty sure the world doesn’t need another blog, but I need a place to think and write and own it. If you find something here that is helpful or thought provoking, well and good.
I am Paul Olsen, an Intentional Interim Pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. As an interim pastor and a regular pastor, I have served congregations in Iowa, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Louisiana, Minnesota, and Idaho. I’m a beer aficionado, brewing beer and making wine and mead, bicyclist, swimmer, hiker, reader.
I write here because I wanted one place where people could find examples of my thinking in articles, sermons, and videos. I write now because, particularly in these pandemic times and otherwise crucial times, writing helps me think more clearly about what I believe, and how I will act on what I believe. I’ll try to be clear with you about what it is I believe as I look for a way to living it out. I don’t need you to change or agree with me; I just hope to say, as clearly as I can, ‘This is who I am; this is what I believe.’
I’m not out to change anybody’s mind; in fact, I expect to be absolutely wrong at least part of the time. It’s really just about setting a responsible direction for myself.
And if one of us can do that, maybe it’s a step the other can start to take, too.
